Blog post from GitHub
The ninth annual js13kGames competition concluded with over 220 games submitted, each created in under a month and restricted to a 13kB JavaScript limit. The theme for this year was "404," allowing participants creative freedom in their interpretations. The top entries, as voted by participants, showcased a range of innovative concepts, including "Ninja vs. Evilcorp," a platformer inspired by classic games; "Edge Not Found," a Sokoban-style puzzle set on an infinite grid; and "Track Not Found?!," which uses optical illusions as gameplay mechanics. Other notable entries included "Stolen Sword," an action game playable on mobile and desktop; "The Last Spartan," a hack 'n' slash survival game set in ancient Sparta; and "I want to Google the Game," which humorously navigates search engine obstacles. The event was organized by @end3r and acknowledged the contributions of participants, sponsors, and supporters, with promises of another competition next year.
