GitHub has introduced a feature where users can @mention a username to notify that person and subscribe them to updates on issues or pull requests. Additionally, users now have enhanced control over their notifications, allowing them to manually subscribe or unsubscribe from specific issues without needing to comment on them. Those who prefer not to receive notifications when mentioned can disable @mention notifications through their Notification Center under Account Settings.
