Elastic has joined The Open Group Open Subsurface Data Universe™ (OSDU) Forum, an international consortium aimed at creating an open data platform for the oil and gas industry to enhance data accessibility and insight generation. The OSDU Forum, involving 17 operators and technology providers like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services, seeks to reduce data silos and foster collaboration among competitors such as ConocoPhillips, BP, and Chevron, who prefer to compete on insights rather than data access. Elastic's participation is driven by the value its Elastic Stack offers in analyzing geospatial, full-text, and numeric data, essential for the OSDU's goal of a cloud-native platform. Elastic aims to contribute its expertise to the Forum, ensuring its technology is used effectively to maximize data-driven decision-making in the industry.
