Dynatrace has enhanced its Log Monitoring capabilities by allowing users to create custom metrics from log data, enabling more detailed monitoring insights and efficient troubleshooting. Users can now chart log metrics and integrate them into dashboards, with these observations being automatically facilitated by the Davis AI causation engine. The process involves accessing monitored log files, running queries, and creating metrics, which can then be used through the API with an immutable API key. Future updates include the ability to generate custom events based on these metrics, as well as improvements to the user interface, query performance, and support for different log sources. With the introduction of these custom metrics, older log events are being deprecated, and Dynatrace plans to remove them entirely in future updates, urging users to transition to the new system. The company is actively seeking user feedback to continue refining its Log Monitoring features.
