Today, Cube powers analytics features inside thousands of applications by providing a consistent, single source of truth through its data schema. However, this solution has been unsolved for users of dashboards and business intelligence tools, and the data engineering teams that support them. These teams often use multiple tools to consume data from the same warehouse, leading to inconsistent calculations and disagreements between teams. To address this issue, Cube introduces a new SQL API that functions as a headless BI layer, providing consistent metrics to any querying and visualization tool. With the API, developers can query Cube's metrics layer via SQL, leveraging pre-aggregations and a database-agnostic materialization engine to improve performance. The addition of the SQL API makes Cube a centralized, upstream location for building and maintaining metrics, reducing inconsistencies and conflicts in data-driven decision-making.
