At the August 2019 ETHBerlin Zwei Hackathon, the Chainlink team awarded €4000 in prizes for innovative blockchain projects utilizing their decentralized oracle network to connect smart contracts with off-chain data. The first-place winner, Chainlink ♡ Augur, developed "Chaugur," a system combining Chainlink's oracles with Augur's prediction markets to enhance security in data retrieval for smart contracts. The second-place project, VollgasDAO, created a decentralized autonomous organization to hedge against Ethereum gas price volatility using Chainlink oracles for real-time data. Third place went to Etherflare, which designed an incentive system for white hat hackers to improve web security via penetration testing, utilizing Chainlink oracles to verify uptime data. These projects showcased the transformative potential of Chainlink's technology in enabling trustless and automated smart contracts with real-world applications.
