The COVID-19 pandemic has turned into a global health, economic, and political crisis, highlighting the importance of data scientists' role in understanding its consequences. To support this effort, CARTO has made its platform available to researchers through grants and is now providing open access to key datasets for COVID-19 research via its new Data Observatory. These datasets include aggregated cases by country, healthcare provider locations, travel restrictions, and public health restrictions, which can be used in spatial data science models using CARTOframes and the data enrichment methods. The Data Observatory has been made available to all Google BigQuery users as a public data project, allowing for wider access to these datasets.
