November 2014 Summaries

The newest release of the Datadog Agent, version 5.1.0, has been announced with several key improvements and additions. The update introduces support for Btrfs, a relatively new Linux filesystem, which was previously causing issues with file size and disk usage metrics. Additionally, support for "expvar" in Go has been added, allowing users to export variables as metrics in a dashboard. Furthermore, expanded support has been provided for existing integrations such as PostgreSQL, Jenkins, MongoDB, and directory integrations, including new features like lock counts for PostgreSQL and file-specific gauges for directories.

With the release of our Google App Engine integration, Datadog has joined the Google Cloud Platform ecosystem. This allows users to visualize, analyze, and alert on performance metrics from their Google Cloud Platform infrastructure as well as custom metrics from GAE applications. The integration provides an out-of-the-box dashboard with pre-configured key metrics, including enhanced latency metrics. Users can also collect custom metrics using various DogStatsD or API libraries, and monitor their Google App Engine applications in one place alongside data from multiple cloud providers and on-premise servers. With this release, users can identify the root cause of issues, correlate data, and more, all in one place. The integration is available for free with a 14-day trial, allowing users to experience the full capabilities of Datadog's monitoring and alerting tools.
