ClickHouse and SingleStore are two popular databases used for analytical workloads. A performance analysis was conducted to compare their performance, focusing on join queries which are common in most analytical use cases. The results showed that ClickHouse struggled with join queries, taking significantly longer than SingleStore, often by orders of magnitude. This performance gap had a significant impact on real-world applications and highlighted the operational complexity challenges associated with ClickHouse. In contrast, SingleStore delivered superior out-of-the-box performance across diverse workload types without requiring extensive tuning, making it more suitable for modern enterprise AI and analytics initiatives.
