Announcing PubNub’s UE and Gaming Chat SDKs
Blog post from PubNub
The Unreal Chat SDK and Unity Chat SDK, along with the earlier released Unity SDK, provide game developers with a suite of tools to integrate real-time features into their games, enhancing player engagement and retention. These SDKs, powered by PubNub’s platform, allow for the implementation of features such as in-game alerts, live leaderboards, and game lobbies, while the Chat SDKs focus on streamlining the integration of chat functionalities like message read receipts, typing indicators, and @mentions. Developers can choose between the Core SDKs, which offer broad real-time capabilities, and the Chat SDKs, which provide specialized tools for rapid chat feature deployment. Utilizing the Pub/Sub model, PubNub facilitates real-time communication by allowing users to publish and subscribe to messages across various channels. Additionally, the integration with BizOps Workspace offers no-code tools for moderating and managing chat environments, ensuring developers maintain control without extensive coding. The documentation provides guidance on implementing these features, making it easier to build interactive player experiences in Unreal Engine and Unity.
