why we built an e2e testing tool on top of Playwright

Octomind chose Playwright as the foundation for its end-to-end testing tool to enhance the speed and quality of web app development by utilizing AI while avoiding the redundancy of creating a new framework from scratch. Playwright, launched by Microsoft in 2020, has rapidly become a leader in the E2E testing space due to its modern browser support, cross-platform and cross-language capabilities, and features like fast execution speeds and flakiness prevention. Despite its relatively small community, its open-source nature and backing by Microsoft provide confidence in its longevity, making it a preferred choice for new projects. Octomind remains open to expanding its framework coverage based on user needs, acknowledging that different testing frameworks serve varied use cases.
