Three Best Practices for Managing Remote Internship Programs
Blog post from New Relic
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, New Relic adapted its summer internship program to a remote model, beginning May 18 and June 22, with 28 interns across the United States and one in Japan engaging in a 12-week program through its Phoenix, San Francisco, and Portland offices. The company is committed to providing a comprehensive learning experience, where interns will gain exposure to various departments, including sales, marketing, engineering, and analytics, while also becoming proficient in remote-working tools like BlueJeans and Slack. To support interns, New Relic is sending computers and offering a $150 stipend for home office setup, emphasizing the importance of communication and preparation to ensure a successful remote internship experience. The initiative aims to maintain high engagement through creative virtual activities and meet academic requirements for students, reflecting New Relic's dedication to developing talent that contributes to internet innovation.
