Confluent Cloud, a fully managed event streaming platform powered by Apache Kafka, has announced the availability of the MongoDB for Apache Kafka connector within its service, facilitating seamless integration between event streaming and MongoDB Atlas. This development allows organizations to build scalable streaming solutions without managing infrastructure, leveraging both the MongoDB Atlas Source to push data into Kafka topics and the Sink to pull data from Kafka topics into MongoDB clusters for advanced querying and storage. Concurrently, MongoDB announced a leadership transition, with CEO Dev Ittycheria planning to retire in November 2025, to be succeeded by Chirantan "CJ" Desai. CJ, with his extensive experience in scaling technology companies, is expected to lead MongoDB through its next phase of growth. Dev expressed confidence in CJ's abilities and emphasized the importance of change at the right time, seeing this transition as an opportunity for MongoDB to strengthen its position in the market, particularly in the era of AI and data-intensive applications. As he steps down, Dev plans to remain on the Board and support CJ, celebrating the progress and future potential of MongoDB while looking forward to personal time and continued involvement with the company.
