MongoDB Helps Asian Retailers Scale and Innovate at Speed
Blog post from MongoDB
Retailers across ASEAN are increasingly adopting MongoDB's document database model to enhance business expansion and adapt to rapidly changing customer demands, as showcased by EasyEat and Alfamart at MongoDB.local events in 2024. EasyEat, a SaaS point-of-sale system for restaurants, leveraged MongoDB Atlas to scale operations and improve performance, citing features like analytics nodes, Atlas Triggers, and Atlas Search as critical to their success. Similarly, Alfamart, a leading retailer with over 19,000 stores, utilized MongoDB Atlas to handle exponential growth in online transactions during the COVID-19 pandemic, achieving significant efficiency improvements through fast processing times and auto-scaling capabilities. MongoDB is also advancing in the AI domain, partnering with companies like Astronomer, CloudZero, ObjectBox, and Rasa to integrate its offerings with generative AI applications, thus supporting organizations in their AI strategies. Meanwhile, MongoDB is undergoing a leadership transition as CEO Dev Ittycheria announces his retirement effective November 2025, to be succeeded by Chirantan "CJ" Desai, who brings extensive experience from ServiceNow and Cloudflare to guide MongoDB into its next phase of growth.
