Atlas Stream Processing, recently announced by MongoDB, is now in public preview, offering developers a platform for processing high-velocity event data using principles similar to the document model and Query API familiar in MongoDB Atlas. It aims to simplify operational complexity in stream processing while enhancing the developer experience through features like VS Code integration and improved dead letter queue capabilities. The public preview introduces advanced functionalities such as windowing, $lookup for enriching documents, and conditional routing with dynamic expressions, alongside improvements in operational and security aspects like checkpointing and Kafka consumer group support. During its private preview, Atlas Stream Processing received feedback from thousands of development teams, leading to enhancements in developer experience, advanced features, and security. The platform is designed to work seamlessly with other technologies like Kafka data hosted by partners such as Confluent and Amazon MSK. As it enters public preview, MongoDB plans to begin charging using preview pricing and invites developers to explore these new capabilities to build reactive, event-driven applications.
