Why I started another application logging company
Blog post from Moesif
Despite the plethora of logging and exception tracking tools available, the debugging process remains manual and time-consuming, prompting the creation of Moesif to streamline and automate it. Derric Gilling, a former CTO and CPU Architect, highlights his experiences with debugging at Trove, where various tools like Loggly, Sentry, and New Relic were used, yet failed to provide the efficiency and automation needed. Debugging often involves gathering context, narrowing down the failing service, and using a process of elimination, all of which are complex and repetitive tasks that could benefit from automation. The challenges include the inability of static alerting and testing to anticipate dynamic bugs, the manual nature of log searches, the need for manual logging of interactions across services, and the limitations of logs in showing service interactions. These inefficiencies divert time from product development, impacting growth and revenue, thus highlighting the need for more automated and intelligent debugging solutions like Moesif.
