Mobile crash resolution poses significant challenges for development teams, impacting user experience and business metrics. A benchmarking report evaluates the effectiveness of AI code assistants like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, and SmartResolve in fixing crashes on iOS and Android platforms. The study uses standardized testing with real-world crashes and human-written fixes, analyzing performance based on correctness, similarity to human solutions, coherence, depth, and relevance. Results show that SmartResolve leads on iOS with 66.81% accuracy, while Cursor slightly edges out competitors on Android with 73.85% accuracy. Performance differences suggest that iOS crash fixes require more nuanced analysis, while Android fixes are more straightforward for AI tools. Despite AI advancements, human oversight remains crucial, especially for complex crashes. SmartResolve excels in practicality by automating stack trace retrieval and integrating crash metadata for precise fixes, reinforcing the importance of a human-in-the-loop approach for maintaining high code quality.
