GitHub is implementing a new backend system called "Hookshot" to enhance the speed and reliability of its service payloads. As part of this transition, a new Meta API endpoint will list the current public IPs from which hooks originate, and the AMQP service will be removed due to its ineffectiveness and incompatibility with the current system. A new guideline requires all new services to accept unmodified payloads over HTTP, exemplified by Code Climate, while services like Campfire that use custom logic will no longer be accepted. Existing services will continue to function, but the focus is on improving the core Services backend's reliability by reducing the maintenance burden of custom logic for over 100 services. Users are encouraged to subscribe to the API Changes blog for further updates.
